Experimental metal band Deftones performed their new single “Prayers/Triangles” last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live before an outdoor audience. Off camera the group also played “Rubicon,” “Diamond Eyes,” “Tempest,” “Swerve City” and “Rocket Skates.”
Last week, the band released its new album, Gore, which features a guest appearance by Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell on the song “Phantom Bride.” From front to back the album juxtaposes dense, heavy rhythms with more atmospheric elements. The duality reflects in the album cover, which depicts an aerial shot of a flock of flamingos — which seemingly have nothing to do with the album title.
“I think Deftones have always flirted with dynamic and that yin-and-yang of things that are provocative and things that are beautiful,” frontman Chino Moreno told Kerrang! “Where our last two album titles were a lot more optimistic, I think this title is intentionally different. This record is very different.”
