Black Veil Brides’ Andy Black Debuts Solo Video, ‘We Don’t Have To Dance’

By Staff

Black Veil Brides‘ frontman Andy Black has released an eerie video for “We Don’t Have to Dance” from the forthcoming solo album, The Shadow Side. The album will be Black’s first solo effort.

The upbeat, dance-able track is a departure from the darker hard rock he produces with his leather-clad band. Super pop-punk producer John Feldmann’s influences can be heard throughout. Feldmann, who recently produced Sleeping With Sirens latest album, is currently working on Blink-182’s first album without Tom DeLonge. Ironically titled, the track may actually incite some dancing.

In “We Don’t Have to Dance,” we follow Black as sinister characters lurk in the background of the black and white video, shot with vintage horror film aesthetic.

Black explained the song’s beginnings during a Alt Press interview saying, “Writing ‘We Don’t Have to Dance,’ with Patrick from Fallout Boy was very simple in that we just sat and talked about things that we mutually hated for like a half an hour and then we just put them in a list and that is the lyrics to the song.”

In addition to Stump, Black’s debut album includes contributions from My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way, 5 Seconds of Summer’s Ashton Irwin, All Time Low’s Rian Dawson and Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden.

The Shadow Side is due May 6 with “We Don’t Have to Dance” available now via iTunes.

Black will spend May touring Europe.
