Ronda Rousey has officially become a UFC champion and will make history when she defends it in early 2013.

During the press conference in Seattle for UFC on FOX 5, UFC President Dana White brought Rousey on stage to present her with the first ever women’s championship belt. In addition to giving her the strap, White announced her first title defense inside the Octagon.

In the main event of UFC 157, which is set to take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, Rousey will take on Liz Carmouche. The bout will be monumental for not only the sport, but for the UFC as well. Rousey/Carmouche will make history as the first women’s fight in the UFC and as a pay-per-view main event, the stage couldn’t be any bigger. Listen below to hear white’s announcement from the press conference.
