Despite being out of action for the past 19 months, UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre will enter the cage against interim champion Carlos Condit as the favorite.
St. Pierre last competed in April of 2011, defeated Jake Shields via unanimous decision. Later that year St. Pierre announced he had suffered a knee injury and was out for an extended period, forcing the welterweight division to move forward. Fast forward a year and now, Condit is the champion, Nick Diaz is still on suspension for a failed drug test and several contenders are continuing their ascent to the top of the division.
In training for his title unification bout with St. Pierre, Condit is preparing for the best St. Pierre the world has ever seen. The interim champ is determined that St. Pierre’s injury and recovery will make him more dangerous than before.
Condit recently commented on how he feels as the underdog in his upcoming title bout. Hear his thoughts below.
