Over a decade ago, the Foo Fighters made an album that was supposed to be a follow-up to their critically-acclaimed third album, 1999′s There Is Nothing Left To Lose.

After four months in a Los Angeles studio and a cool one million dollars, Foo Fighters scratched their recording session because it “just didn’t sound right,” frontman Dave Grohl worked with Queens of the Stone Age on Songs of the Deaf, and the band tried again half a year later at Grohl’s Virginia home studio, eventually putting out their fourth album One by One in 2002.

One by One became one of the Foo Fighters most beloved albums, but the first go round of songs vanished and were mysteriously dubbed the Million Dollar Demos. Two of the songs from the first recording session, “Have It All” and “Comeback,” have resurfaced showing the great disparity between the two tracks from start to album-pressed finish.

Tipped off to the tracks via Loudwire, the “Million Dollar Demos” come in the wake of the Foo Fighters winning four Grammys for their 2011 album Wasting Light including Best Rock Album, news about Grohl’s documentary Sound City due to be released in 2013 and hints of an eighth album.
