Wrecking Yard Scrap Or Unique Piece Of Nirvana History?
At the time of this post, 36 bids had been submitted for this four-wheeled piece of musical history.
If you’re a Nirvana fan with time, energy and $10,000+ of discretionary income, this 1972 Dodge Sportsman Royal Van may be of interest to you.
Better known as the “MELVAN,” this van featured in many books, Cobain Unseen, Come As You Are and various Nirvana documentaries.
According to the eBay listing, this is a very unique piece of Melvins/Nirvana history and truly one of a kind. The KISS Mural on the side was hand drawn by Kurt Cobain using Sharpie markers shoplifted from the Thriftway grocery store in Montesano, Washington. This was one of the first Melvins tour vans and was used on at least one U.S. tour. Kurt was known to drive this van to local shows. Included are two former vehicle registration certificates, one signed by Roger Osborne (King Buzzo) and the second signed by former Melvins bass player Matt Lukin.
If this van could talk, imagine the stories it would tell.
