British rock heroes of the early 00′s The Darkness are set to re-launch themselves – and are targeting the US as their main audience.

The makers of hits such as “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” and “Get Your Hands Off My Woman” have been quiet since 2006 but are returning with a US tour in February and a new album in the Spring.

Last.fm Trends looks at the band’s scrobbles in light of their imminent comeback.

“I Believe In A Thing Called Love” was released as part of their debut album Permission To Land in 2003 – an album which gained them almost instant worldwide recognition. The track is by far their most popular, being scrobbled 1,954,048 times and by 2,806 listeners last week.

Permission To Land has been scrobbled 4,084,833 times, a stark contrast to their 2006 album One Way Ticket To Hell… And Back, scrobbled just 982,403 times. The band soon split up after the release of the album yet scrobbles have continued to come in, leading the band to a total scrobble count of nearly 8,000,000.

The band’s scrobbles have dipped since this time in 2009, however with the band back playing live again in the UK and Europe throughout the past year, some spikes in scrobbles can be identified:
